If you want to get super creative but at the same time don’t want to use Photoshop or watch a dozen tutorials to learn how to do it – this may be just the thing you need. So let’s get to it and see what’s inside Luminar 4. A first look and sneak peek inside Skylum Luminar 4 This took about 3 minutes, no masking needed. After using the Sky Replacement AI in Luminar 4. The image is good, but the sky was kind of “blah” that day. Before, just basic adjustments were made to exposure, color, contrast to get this image.
Look at this before and after example that I did in less than five minutes. The purists won’t like this one as you’re changing the sky in your original image, but if you’re okay with it give it a go. I admit that I’m a convert and I may actually use it now. Sky Replacement AI was another tool I thought I’d never use, but I have already found applications for it and it did a really nice job. Notice the skin still has texture and its integrity is intact. After applying the portrait filters in Luminar 4. Here I’ve just done basic exposure and color adjustments. I kid you not! Before portrait AI filters were applied. Here’s a quick before and after that I did with just Luminar 4 – NO Lightroom, NO Photoshop! No cloning or healing manually, no brushing or layers or masking, JUST sliders. It does all that without going overboard and making plastic people which is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. They do a fabulous job of softening skin and blemish removal just by pulling a few sliders. But as I said above, Skylum hit the mark with their portrait enhancer and AI skin enhancer tools and filters inside Luminar 4. I have tried portrait and skin AI filters with other software in the past and was sadly disappointed. The program uses complex algorithms to analyze your photo and adjust it automatically in certain areas. Well, AI or Artificial Intelligence, is like the Auto modes on your camera but for photo editing in this case. TIP: Make sure you’re signed up to get emails from me so you don’t miss anything!
